Precision Styli for CMM and Probe Systems
The stylus is the part of a contact probing system that physically touches the workpiece, so its configuration directly affects feature access, repeatability and measurement performance. Common options include straight styli, star configurations, extensions, adapters, knuckles and other components used to reach internal, angled or obstructed features. What to Consider When Selecting Probes and Styli
A good configuration must match both the measuring system and the feature being inspected. The thread connection and probe compatibility come first, followed by ball diameter, effective working length, stem material, component mass and rigidity. Longer assemblies may improve reach, but they can also increase deflection or reduce stability if the configuration is not properly selected.
